The Negroni’s story begins in 1860 at Café Camparino in Milan, where Gaspare Campari, the founder of the famed Campari brand, first served the Milano-Torino – a simple yet sophisticated mix of equal parts Campari and sweet vermouth, served over ice with a twist of lemon zest. The cocktail’s journey continued as Americans added a splash of soda, creating the Americano. But it was in 1919 that Count Camillo Negroni elevated the drink by requesting his Americano with a stronger kick, introducing gin to the mix. Thus, the Negroni was born – a bold, balanced cocktail that has captivated palates for over a century.
